The FTC, Endorsements & Testimonials

I was reading an article on the Chicago Tribune website about possible new FTC’s rules dealing with ad endorsements & testimonies and as I reached the end, I noticed the ad below.

Upon clicking the ad, I was taken to one of the latest types of affiliate marketing sites – a fake blog.

You know, the kind that uses stock photos of people who supposely made dramatic changes all because of the product being pimped.

Anyway, I thought it was funny because ads like that are part of the reason for these changes.

As far as the possible new rules, it really wont effect people who have solid products that can stand on their own. It will help stop people from selling dreams based on results that the average person can not achieve. Which I think is a good thing.
