Increasing Profits on Download Pages

When I first started selling online my download pages basically had a link to the download and contact information. It’s what everyone else was doing, so I followed along. After a few years I decided to try and actually make money on my download pages.

At first I put AdSense ads and was getting a lot of clicks. Woohoo! Then I found out that was a violation of the AdSense TOS. Oops! Needless to say, I removed them.

I then started recommending “required” products & services that people will need. When possible I used an affiliate link or recommended something I was selling. This worked well but I wasn’t satisfied so I started advertising a product that was related to what they where downloading. This made a lot more money than the “required” recommendations.

The last thing I tried was an on-exit ad related to the download. This one doesn’t make a lot but is worth it.

That about covers it.

Thanks for sharing your strategies, you are a true inspiration. I have tried blogging so many times I can’t count them, but never make any money unless I promote my own agenda, so I was glad when AdSense kicked me out and made me focus on where the money was.

It makes sense that related items would sell more than just random items, so good to see the results verified that :)
