GMail & Plus Addressing

June 2nd, 2009

Gmail has a neat little feature called “Plus Addressing” that in reality, gives you unlimited emails for use with a single GMail account. It’s also easy to use and can be done on the fly.

Here’s how it works:

If your GMail address is “email@gmail.com” you would simply put “email+word@gmail.com” to create a new email address.

Benefits of Plus Addressing:

  1. Track who is emailing you and where you signed up by putting the domain/site in place of “word”. You will also easily know if someone is “sharing” your address.
  2. With GMail filters, you could easily filter the + addresses to specific folders. Or even delete emails if you can’t get off their list.
